Skills Development

As soon as they arrive on the Alouette site, new employees can count on customized training that helps them assimilate into their new workplace.

Versatility, teamwork and empowerment are key factors in a continuous improvement context. The most common training therefore includes skills development in the following areas:

  • corporate values and philosophy
  • production technology
  • electrical and mechanical maintenance of systems and equipment
  • information systems
  • management activities
  • attitudes and skills related to workplace
  • health and safety
  • environmental and quality issues

To meet its training needs and targets, the Company focuses on developing qualified internal resources. This approach ensures the pertinence of training content and enables better shop-floor follow-up. For the approach to succeed, collaboration by educational institutions at various levels is required. Alouette calls on these institutions on an ad hoc basis.

Alouette has tapped into the expertise of institutions such as the Cégep de Sept-Îles, Commission scolaire du Fer, HEC Montréal and Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC), in areas as wide ranging as mechanical and electrical maintenance, document preparation and finance.
