Leadership Change at Aluminerie Alouette

Sept-Îles, June 03, 2020 – Mr. Darren Colwell, Chairman of the Owners Committee of Aluminerie Alouette, announced today that Mr. Michel Huot is appointed Acting President and Chief Executive Officer following the departure of Mr. Patrice L’Huillier, who led the company since 2018.

This change comes after discussions with Mr. L’Huillier. The Owners Committee would like to thank him for the work accomplished during its mandate.

The new President and CEO, Mr. Huot, knows the Sept-Îles aluminium smelter well, having worked at Alouette as Vice President Operations from 2003 to 2005. He will take office on June 8.

“We are pleased to welcome Michel to our team and are confident that he will be able to support Aluminerie Alouette during this period”, said Mr. Colwell. “The organization will benefit from his wide experience. Mr. Huot will facilitate the implementation of a strategy aimed at pursuing modernization and long-term sustainability of the company”, he added.

Mr. Huot has over 30 years of experience in the aluminum industry, in Canada and abroad. His knowledge is varied and concerns operation and maintenance as well as health and safety, the environment and human resources. Mr. Huot has held various management positions during his career, including those of Chief Operating Officer and Plant General Manager (Sohar Aluminum, Rio Tinto), mandates during which he led various improvement and growth programs.

“I am delighted to reconnect with the dynamic Aluminerie Alouette team as well as with members of the Côte-Nord community”, said Mr. Huot.

Aluminerie Alouette and its employees are looking forward to welcoming Mr. Huot again.
