Aluminerie Alouette and the Sept-Îles chamber of commerce host a successful economic-themed breakfast conference

Sept-Îles, June 12, 2013 — This past Monday, at the Sept-Îles conference centre, four renowned guest speakers spoke to around one hundred entrepreneurs and members of the business community. Held by Aluminerie Alouette in partnership with the Sept-Îles Chamber of Commerce, this economic-themed breakfast conference was an incredible opportunity to share ideas about the world of manufacturing and entrepreneurship.

Louis J. Duhamel, a partner at Deloitte, kicked off the morning with his speech titled,Insights into Quebec manufacturing: working together towards a prosperous future. Analyst of major economic issues in Quebec and president of the manufacturing committee of the Quebec Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Duhamel also discussed the future of the manufacturing sector in Quebec and the challenges that it faces.

The participants also had the opportunity to meet Marc Dutil, president and CEO of Canam Group and founder and president of the École d’Entrepreneurship de Beauce (EEB). He captivated his audience by presenting the EEB, a prestigious institution, from a unique angle of developing Quebec entrepreneur-athletes. Mr. Dutil said that he hopes to welcome someone from the Côte-Nord very soon. Nathaly Riverin, General Manager of the EEB, also spoke about the 10 most common mistakes made by business executives — a very interesting topic for the entrepreneurs who came to listen to the woman who won the Entrepreneurship Promotion Award at the 33rdMercuriades gala.

Finally, Annie Thabet, a partner at Celtis Captial and a member of the board of directors of the Fonds d’intervention économique régional (FIER) Côte-Nord, gave a presentation titled How can FIER Côte-Nord help you create wealth? With an initial capital of $6 million, FIER Côte-Nord has a mission to “contribute to the economic development of the Côte-Nord region while leveraging profitable investment opportunities.”

Also present at the event, Aluminerie Alouette president and CEO André Martel said he was thrilled to welcome the four guest speakers to Sept-Îles. “It’s a unique opportunity to have attended such high-quality presentations this morning; we are proud to have made this enriching experience possible for the region’s entire business community,” he said during the closing remarks.
