
Sept-Îles, July 30, 2014 ? After almost 5 years as president and chief executive officer of Aluminerie Alouette Inc., as well as more than 36 years in the aluminium industry, Mr. André Martel has decided to retire to pursue other interests. In order to ensure a smooth transition and to support some strategic matters, he will continue in a strategic consulting role until the end of the year. In this role, he will report directly to the board. He leaves a significant legacy to a world-class organisation including a 10-year business plan. His leadership greatly contributed to business performance improvement, namely in health-safety and environment. Throughout his career, André has been recognised for his tireless commitment to the business, its people and the local communities. Winner of the « Aluminium Smelter Excellence Award» from the American Metal Market in 2012, Aluminerie Alouette maintains world-wide leadership in terms of energy efficiency.
On behalf of the shareholders, Mr. Gerald Mayer, president of the board of Aluminerie Alouette would like to thank Mr. Martel for his personal contribution to the business improvement. His leadership and vision have made a clear difference in order to allow Alouette to stay one of the most competitive aluminium smelters in the world with an inspiring strategic vision.
It is with great enthusiasm that Mr. Gerald Mayer announces today the appointment of Mr. Claude Boulanger as the new president and chief executive officer of Aluminerie Alouette. His appointment will be effective 1st September 2014. Mr. Boulanger has a very good knowledge of the aluminium industry with more than 27 years of experience, including the position of plant manager at the RTA Grande-Baie smelter for the last 5 years. Mr. Boulanger held various management roles for different companies in Québec (Canada), in Australia and in South Africa. He takes up his new role with the intention to join a great team and to contribute to another chapter of the successful Alouette history.
