SEPT-ÎLES, February 8, 2017 – Aluminerie Alouette, the largest primary aluminium smelter in the Americas, has now been operating in Sept-Îles for a quarter of a century. This year is a cause for celebration for the company as it marks 25 years of operation and a major milestone with the production of more than 10 million tonnes of aluminium. All year long, the smelter will celebrate its anniversary with its employees, partners and the entire community.
A product of collective will, the economic gem of the Marconi Peninsula would like to thank its host community. With sustainability in mind, Aluminerie Alouette will give 25 mature trees to the City of Sept-Îles for a symbolic planting. A commemoration plaque will also be officially presented to the community of Uashat mak Mani-Utenam, the City of Sept-Îles and the City of Port-Cartier. Many other activities will be held for Aluminerie Alouette’s primary ambassadors — its active and retired employees. Other surprises for the community and business partners will be unveiled throughout the year.
When presenting the program to employees, President and CEO Claude Boulanger confidently said, “As a company, we are fortunate to have excelled for more than 25 years, and we are proud of our achievements. Together with our employees and partners, we will lay the groundwork for the coming decades!”
Already well-established in its community, Aluminerie Alouette will focus even more on its presence in the public space through increased and ongoing promotion. The company will also make its debut on social media to become even more accessible. Finally, a new section of the website will be launched in the next few months featuring historical facts, statistics, videos and so much more!
